No general ban on adult content — but discretionary enforcement and US jurisdiction add risk.
Content Guidelines §2 — Adult and Sexually Explicit Content
We do not impose a general ban on adult and sexually explicit content. We understand that this may be lawfully shared for a variety of reasons, including, educational, medical, artistic or in protests.
Wix explicitly states they do NOT ban adult content. This is unusually permissive for a mainstream website builder. Escort websites with professional content are not inherently prohibited.
Content Guidelines §9 — Illegal and Regulated Goods and Services
Users shall not transmit, display, upload, publish or otherwise make available any content in relation to illegal goods and services, or content that violates any laws in relation to regulated goods and services.
The prohibited list covers drugs, trafficking, weapons, and gambling — but does NOT include escort services or sexual services. The risk is the "illegal" catch-all, since Wix is a US company and may apply US legal interpretation.
Wix is surprisingly permissive for a mainstream website builder. Their Content Guidelines explicitly state: "We do not impose a general ban on adult and sexually explicit content." The prohibited goods and services list (§9) covers drugs, trafficking, weapons, and gambling — but does NOT mention escort services, sexual services, or adult businesses. On paper, an escort website on Wix is not a policy violation. However, there are reasons for caution. Wix is a US-listed company (NASDAQ: WIX) headquartered in Tel Aviv with significant US operations. Section 11 gives Wix broad discretionary enforcement power: they use AI-based automated tools for content moderation and reserve the right to "consider actions and statements made outside of our Services" when making moderation decisions. This means even if your Wix site is clean, your social media or other online presence could influence their decision. Wix can also suspend or terminate accounts "with or without notice" at their discretion. The domain risk is real: if you registered your domain through Wix, transferring it after termination can be difficult. For maximum safety, register your domain separately (Namecheap, Porkbun) regardless of where you host. Wix is usable for escort websites, but you're trusting their discretion — self-hosted solutions give you full ownership.
